Rice and peas is a dish traditionally eaten on Sundays, when the cooking starts early in the morning. rice is mixed with gungo peas, onion, thyme, escallion for seasoning, gratered coconut or coconut creamed , pimento berries and scotch bonnet pepper, resulting in a fluffy, flavourful side to serve alongside your choice of Meat.
Gungo peas need to be soaked and cooked before eating. They have a unique nutty flavour and crisp texture .
